What’s in a Name? For North Shore Counseling, it’s the perfect anniversary gift!

In 2014, we’re celebrating 10 years in business. We’ve seen many changes during that time. When we first started out in 2004, we had a variety of services to support the mental and behavioral health needs of the community, and our name, “North Shore Wellness Services,” reflected our diverse offerings. Over the years, we became increasingly specialized, building up the aspects of practice most closely aligned with the needs of the community and focusing on our strengths as mental health practitioners. In 2011, we said good-bye to our ancillary services and put all our energy into building our counseling services. In 2012, we were able to leave our rented space and set up shop in our newly acquired building on Huehl Road. And in 2013, we sought to cap off our transformation with a new name! Our objective was clear: Keep the main thing the main thing!  We are professional counselors. It’s who we are, and it’s what we do. The name “North Shore Counseling” was a natural fit! Much to our delight, we were able to secure both the new web address and the A-OK from the State of Illinois to begin doing business under our new name, North Shore Counseling.

Counseling is a transformative process. It is profound and humbling to be invited into the private lives of our clients. Professional Counseling is a regulated term in the State of Illinois. Only those appropriately licensed have the privilege of calling themselves Professional Counselors. At North Shore Counseling, our practitioners are all Licensed Professional Counselors and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors. It is my great joy to enter 2014 with our new name, North Shore Counseling: A name befitting the wonderful professional counselors here to serve you!
